Sunday saw the bats fall silent throughout the minors for the young Cubs. Even without production on the offensive side, the organization was still able to produce some wins with a ton of help from their pitchers. Across the board there was only one loss on Sunday, and plenty of notable performances to take a look at.

Iowa fell to Omaha 5-2

Rob Zastryzny worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. His big problem was the two home runs he gave up.

Taylor Davis provided the entire offense as far as run production goes, driving in 2 runs with his home run in the top of the 1st inning.

John Andreoli got on base 3 times, by way of a double and 2 walks.

Tennessee’s game with Biloxi was postponed.

Myrtle Beach defeated Carolina 4-2

Kyle Miller started on the bump and threw 5 innings without giving up a walk, but only punched out 2 batters. He gave up 5 hits and 2 runs on the day.

Tyler Pearson went yard in the 2nd inning, a 2 run bomb.

Jesse Hodges reached base via the walk 3 times in this one.

South Bend won a squeaker against Dayton 3-2

Jose Paulino had a terrific outing, going 7 full innings and only giving up a run on 3 hits. He tossed in 6 strikeouts and did not walk a single batter.

It was not a pretty game offensively to say the least as the Cubs spread out 5 hits in this one by 5 different players, with only 1 RBI (from Chris Pieters) due to 2 costly errors from Dragon fielders.

Eugene defeated Spokane 2-1 in ANOTHER extra inning game

2nd round draftee Cory Abbott started but went just 3 innings, keeping his pitch count down to 42 (27 strikes). He gave up a run on 2 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2.

Enrique De Los Rios came on in relief but threw 5 innings and only gave up a single hit in this one.

Manuel Rodriguez looked very impressive in his 2 innings, striking out 2 but putting up zeros across the board besides that.

Gustavo Polanco carried the big bat today, with 2 hits including a homer and a double  while driving in a run as well.
