Three Cubs Crack Prospects Live Top 100

Pitchers and catchers report in about a week, which means Prospect List SZN is all but wrapping up. Prospects Live announced their Top 30s by team, including the Cubs list, over the past few months. Today they released their Top 100 Prospects List for all of baseball.

Three Cubs players found their way on the top hundy piece, with one other just missing the cut.

Nico Hoerner was the highest ranked Cubs prospect at #48. He has been a guy that PL has been in love with since he was drafted, so seeing him in the top half is not surprising at all, but it’s definitely fun to see as a Cubs fan.

Brennen Davis comes in at #62. The more lists he gets placed on, the more excited I get. It’s one thing for the Cubs bloggers of the world to recognize his game; it’s a whole other world when other people start to see it too.

Brailyn Marquez cracks the list at #77. He is still clearly the best pitcher the system has to offer, one of the best lefties in baseball, and still has room to grow.

It was Miguel Amaya who just missed the cut, but we do know that he came in at #103. The top 100, voted on by the several writers at PL, is a comprehensive list. Amaya was the number one prospect in the system according to Benjamin Chase on his individual list for PL.

We seem to be waiting on just one more list: Fangraphs. If I’m a betting man, you should expect to see Nico, Brennen, Brailyn, and Miggy on that one as well.
