What I’m Reading
• After this week’s edition, I only have one more Weekly Farm Report left this season. Plenty of good bits of info in this one, if I’m allowed to toot my own horn!
What I’m Watching
• I’m not sure if you’ve heard it or not, but Brennen Davis was promoted to Triple-A Iowa. And he hit two bombs. In his first two at-bats. I’m serious. I can hardly believe it myself. I was audibly laughing all night long.
• People keep asking me why Ed Howard is playing more second base while Kevin Made mans shortstop. Well, I can tell you that it’s not because of anything Howard has or has not done! (Bonus: Frankie Scalzo Jr’s stache).
• This happened a week ago but it seems like a year ago. Christopher Morel hit two doubles in this game and then took one out of the park in the bottom of the 10th to help the Smokies walk off just ten minutes after Jason Heyward did the same for the big league Cubs!
What I’m Tweeting
• How many strikes you throw doesn’t always tell you who the good pitchers and bad pitchers are, but it’s still a fun stat to take a look at!
• It’s taken some convincing but I think I’m officially on board the Ryan Jensen bandwagon. The dude has been nails this year.
What’s Catching My Eye
• MiLB TV being available for free to anyone and their mother is terrific stuff, especially for Cubs fans. You can go check out all the prospects you could ever imagine without paying a dime. My word of advice? South Bend is playing at a park without a CF camera, so I would watch plenty of Myrtle Beach action with Sam Weiderhaft on the call. Then, starting next week, Iowa will be the only affiliate playing. Watch them.
